Sierra Nevada Conservancy Board Visits Heart K
Tour and Reception Features FRLT Projects
The Sierra Nevada Conservancy Board of Directors will hold its June board meeting in Plumas County June 5 and 6. Join us for a tour project followed by a reception at the Heart K Ranch and meet the SNC board and staff, Wednesday June 5, 4:30 - 6pm. Details here.
Through its Proposition 84 grant program, the SNC has invested funds back into the Sierra. Along with members like you, SNC has helped make possible:
- Work with teachers and local schools to implement FRLT's K-12 Learning Landscapes project
- Conservation of the 6 generation Pearce Family Ranch
- A Healthy Forest project to reduce the risk of wildfire on the forests of the Heart K Ranch in partnership with FRLT's Maidu Land Stewardship project.
We're very excited that SNC recently allocated funding to help conserve the Rogers Key Brand Ranch in Indian Valley (see picture above) and the Chadwick Ranch in Sierra Valley (a working ranch and proposed Learning Landscape outdoor classroom for Loyalton schools). We hope to complete these projects by the end of the year.
The SNC Board Meeting will be on Thursday, June 6, 9am - 1pm at the Westend Theater in Quincy. Details here.
