Stargazing Campout and Potluck
FRLT brings you an evening of good company, potluck style camp dinner, and the big starry sky of Sierra Valley. The night of August 10th is near the peak viewing time for the annual Perseid Meteor Shower.
The event will be at the Maddalena Corrals on County Road A-24. We hope you can join us for this fun experience. Bring a telescope if you have one!
What: Stargazing evening, potluck dinner/dessert, and optional camp-out on FRLT's conserved property.
What to bring: A dinner potluck item to share like a salad, hotdogs for the grill, veggies, dips, etc. Also bring camp chairs, comfy warm clothes (it gets cold out there), sturdy shoes, and plenty of water--and a mug for tea or hot chocolate. FRLT will have a grill, plates, napkins, eating utensils, etc. plus some beverages and food to share. If you plan to stay the night, bring $5 to chip in for our breakfast burrito bar! We will have a camp stove and coffee maker.
When: Saturday, August 10. Event starts at 6pm. Schedule: 6-7pm optional nature walk, 6:30-8:30pm casual dinner, dusk to 11pm (or later) stargazing with local experts.
Why? Let's connect to this beautiful landscape in a new way with good company. We've always wanted to learn more about the night sky so FRLT thought you might like to as well.
This event is free but donations are appreciated. Thank you!
