Saturday, June 30:
Tour the Heart K Ranch by kayak and stay for a BBQ lunch under the black oaks. Led by naturalist Nils Lunder, experience beautiful riverine ecology and see this Lost Sierra treasure from a new angle. This is not a beginner boating event. There are some in-stream hazards, and canoes are not recommended. Participants should have some river/whitewater kayaking experience but it is mostly a non-technical float trip. Must be at least 18 years old. Event is limited to 20 boaters with only eight seats available in FRLT kayaks.
Explore the Heart K Ranch on a nature walk from a Maidu perspective with Trina Cunningham. The goal of the walk is to increase awareness about Mountain Maidu history and culture. The walk is mostly on uneven ground, including a dirt road and a sloped forested area. Wear appropriate shoes, clothing, sun protection, and bring water. Email if you would like to register for this free portion of the event without purchasing the BBQ lunch.
