Saturday, June 30:
Tour the Heart K Ranch by kayak and stay for a BBQ lunch under the black oaks. Led by naturalist Nils Lunder, experience beautiful riverine ecology and see this Lost Sierra treasure from a new angle. This is not a beginner boating event. There are some in-stream hazards, and canoes are not recommended. Participants should have some river/whitewater kayaking experience but it is mostly a non-technical float trip. Must be at least 18 years old. Event is limited to 20 boaters with only eight seats available in FRLT kayaks.
-OR-
Explore the Heart K Ranch on a nature walk from a Maidu perspective with Trina Cunningham. The goal of the walk is to increase awareness about Mountain Maidu history and culture. The walk is mostly on uneven ground, including a dirt road and a sloped forested area. Wear appropriate shoes, clothing, sun protection, and bring water. Email
events@frlt.org if you would like to register for this free portion of the event without purchasing the BBQ lunch.
